07/19/2008 - Atlanta, GA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Willie Harris went 3-for-5 with a triple and two runs batted in, John Lannan threw six solid innings, and Washington dominated Atlanta, 8-2, in the second of three games with the Braves.
Lannan (6-9) allowed just one run on seven hits, walked three and struck out four as the Nationals snapped a three-game losing streak. Lannan pick up his second win in as many starts, and over his last three outings has given up just four runs in 18 innings.
Cristian Guzman finished 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBI, while Paul Lo Duca had two hits and two RBI for Washington.
"It was great to get some hits and score some runs for the pitcher," Harris said. "If we can continue to play like we did tonight with a lot of energy, things will change for us. I'm not saying we'll make it to the postseason, but we'll definitely make it to where we need to be."
Jair Jurrjens (9-5) took the loss after surrendering five runs on eight hits in 6 1/3 frames, though he walked just one and struck out five. He has alternated wins and losses over his past four starts for Atlanta.
"I didn't have my great stuff today," Jurrjens said. "I didn't make pitches when I needed to make pitches. I got hurt, and that's it."
Greg Norton homered, while Gregor Blanco went 3-for-5, as the Braves had a three-game win streak halted with the loss.
Washington had the bases loaded with one out in the second inning, but didn't push a run across until the next frame. Harris led off with a single and stole second, then scored on Lo Duca's double to right field.
Guzman then lofted a ball to right that went over Jeff Francoeur's head, which allowed Lo Duca to race home and Guzman to end up on third. He easily scored on Austin Kearns' sacrifice fly to right, beating Francoeur's wild throw to make it a 3-0 game.
The Braves had the bases loaded with two outs in the fourth, but had that opportunity ended when Norton hit into a fly out. Still, Atlanta got another rally going in the fifth when Jurrjens walked and Blanco bunted his way on base with one out.
After a strikeout, Chipper Jones singled in Jurrjens, and the Braves later loaded the bases again. But a Brian McCann line out ended the threat.
"We didn't have luck today," Jurrjens said. "We had a lot of line drives. Guys in scoring position and two outs and we didn't get anything from it."
The Nationals added a pair of runs in the seventh. With Ryan Langerhans on second after a double, Harris got inside a pitch and pulled it down the right field line, racing around the bases for a triple. Guzman then batted a ball off the ground that resulted in a high chopper to shortstop that allowed Harris to score, pushing Washington's lead to 5-1.
Harris and Lo Duca hit RBI singles in the eighth, while Guzman plated the Nationals' final run with a sacrifice fly in the same inning.
Norton hit a leadoff homer against Jon Rauch in the bottom of the ninth, but Rauch was able to close out the game from there.
Game Notes
Braves starter Tom Glavine, who was forced to leave his June 10 start against the Cubs and has been on the disabled list with a tear in his left elbow flexor tendon, completed a modified bullpen session Saturday at Turner Field. It was the first time he'd thrown off a mound since leaving the game in June...Each team left eight runners on base...The Braves fell to 31-19 at home, while the Nationals, despite the win, have still lost 10 of 12 on the road...After the game, Washington announced it placed first baseman Dmitri Young on the 15-day disabled list. Young, a diabetic, missed his second straight start on Saturday. He was taken out of Friday's lineup after having high blood sugar. Lo Duca started at first base both days. The Nationals also plan to recall third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, who has been out since May 26 with a partially torn labrum in his left shoulder. Zimmerman is expected to join the team for Tuesday's game in San Francisco.

New York, NY – October 3, 2007 – The dress rehearsal is over! The NHL preseason has ended and now that fans have had a glimpse of what is to come it is time to hit the book! Stanley Cup odds are live at MySportsbook.com, the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino.
The Ottawa Senators and Detroit Red Wings remain on top of the odds charts after an impressive start in the preseason. Betting lines opened for both teams at 6-1 in June. Since then the Sens have fallen to 7-1 and the Red Wings are now caught in a pack including the defending champion Carolina Hurricanes, the San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks, all at 10-1.
MySportsbook.com has also posted props on each team’s point total for the regular season. The Senators lead the charge at 108.5 followed by the Ducks at 106.5. Detroit will attempt a repeat for the prize as the Red Wings are deadlocked with the Predators at 104.5 a piece. The temporary loss of highly touted rookie Evgeni Malkin puts a lot of pressure on the stick of assistant captain Sidney Crosby - his lowly Pittsburgh Penguins are listed at 71.5.
Even if bettors are not brave enough to put their money on the underdog, an early bet on the favorites at sportsbook.com tends to produce bigger payouts than a mid-season wager. Placing a $1,000 bet last summer on the Detroit Red Wings or Ottawa Senators would have paid out to $8,000 and $10,000 respectively, opposed to a $2,500 or $3,000 payout at the beginning of the playoffs.
